The new law on social media came into force

Within the scope of the law, companies with more than 1 million users will notify the Information and Communication Technologies Authority and then have a representative within 30 days. If the companies do not fulfill their obligations, 10 million pounds of administrative fines will be applied first, and if the payment is not made, a second penalty of 30 million pounds will come to the agenda.

The obligations that come with the new law are as follows;

– Social media organizations have to have a representative in Türkiye.

– There are 30 days to fulfill this obligation.

– Firms that do not undertake their responsibilities will be a gradual penalty.

– In 30 days, the second penalty of 30 million pounds will not pay the penalty of 10 million pounds in 30 days.

– If the obligations are not completed, advertising ban will be applied.

– If companies do not step within 3 months, internet speeds will be reduced and internet traffic bandwidth will be narrowed.

– If the representative is not appointed within 30 days, the internet speed can be reduced to 90 days.

– The social network that does not fulfill its obligations will progress slowly, and the messages and videos will be transmitted late.
